POSITION: LOCALIZATION PROJECT MANAGER (Large Accounts)

Department: Project Management
Reporting to: Operations Manager

Job Description:
Project managers are involved in the entire localization process, from original project scoping to final delivery. They are the main communications link with both customer contacts and internal execution teams. The work requires focus and the environment is dynamic. Project managers work on a wide range of projects simultaneously. This person will handle major accounts that are large and complex, with customer-driven changes and multiple milestones. Localization project content may involve: websites, software/hardware, documentation, multimedia, market research, marketing collateral, training videos, corporate branding, etc.

Job Responsibilities:

Project-Scoping Phase

  • Define project scope

  • Solicit and compile budget data

  • Build project schedule

  • Present proposal to customer

Production Phase

  • Work with Resource Coordinator to qualify and select linguistic team

  • Help prepare files and create translation instructions

  • Prepare vendor service agreements

  • Coordinate with in-house production team (sales, engineering, quality assurance, etc.)

  • Answer team and client questions in a timely manner

  • Facilitate communication between vendors and clients, when necessary

  • Communicate with team and client on a daily basis and track project

  • Facilitate file transfers between translators, editors, DTP, engineering, and QA

  • Manage frequent change orders from customers

  • Confirm deliverables meet client requirements

Post-production Phase

  • Follow up any questions or issues that arise in the post-delivery stage

  • Conduct post-mortem with client

Software Skills:

  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer

  • Beginning knowledge of desktop publishing software (InDesign, Photoshop and/or Illustrator) preferable, but not required

  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat

  • Familiarity with computer-aided translation tools preferable, but not required

  • Ability to learn new software apps quickly

  • Experience in localization a big plus

Aptitude:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Highly organized, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task under tight schedules

  • Must be a flexible team player, willing to undertake new tasks and serve on occasional committees

  • Ability to contribute beyond tasking

  • Detail-orientation a must
