Creating a mirror image of the original

Translated files are usually processed by localization engineering or desktop publishing teams. During file processing, formatting or layout issues may very likely have been introduced in your localized product. Cosmetic testing ensures that all visual aspects of the localized product show consistent appearance with the original and/or the required style guide. Our reviewers make sure that:

  • Translated text adheres to the source formatting (font type and size; bullets; paragraph numbering; text spacing; bolding; colors; underlining; etc.)
  • Words are correctly hyphenated
  • Characters are not corrupted
  • Text is not truncated
  • Images, screenshots, UI controls, etc. are visible, positioned, and aligned properly
  • Headers and footers are consistent
  • Pagination, table of contents, and index have been updated
  • No HTML tags are present (online help, web content, e-learning)
  • No missing or duplicate hotkeys
  • Sorting order uses target language norms
