Double-checking the integrity of localized products
Functional testing is conducted at a basic level to ensure the integrity of the localized product (software, e-learning, or web content) and is not concerned with its linguistic or cosmetic aspects, but with the code. It includes verifying that:
- Source code has been enabled for international use
- Localization and integration processes have not compromised functionality
- Localized files have appropriate encoding
- Strings are concatenated properly
- Localized product installs, executes, and uninstalls as specified on native operating systems
- No software features are missing and content displays as expected
- All embedded strings in the code have been translated
- Hyperlinks function properly
- Time, date, digit groupings, decimals, currency, etc. display in proper regional settings
- Data fields allow input of language-specific characters
