PTI Global

Publishing for Digital or Print

DTP is not WYSIWYG as described in Wikipedia. What you see on screen is not what you get as final output.

Typical documentation for desktop publishing may include marketing collateral, technical manuals, training and e-learning content, or internal corporate communications. But much of what we desktop publish, such as install guides and on-line help, goes hand-in-hand with software applications. At PTIGlobal, we have developed proprietary tools, as well as incorporating industry standard tools, to automate and streamline the localization DTP process. From quoting files and preparing files for translation, to importing translated text back into the files, we apply the same quality and high standards, whether the project is a one page document or hundreds of pages across multiple languages. Unlike many localization companies, our Engineering and DTP departments work closely together during these processes to ensure coordination and accuracy of intricate tasks. Standard Operating Procedures for specific DTP applications, as well as client-specific requirement, are followed rigorously.

Our elite in-house DTP team also coordinates with qualified international DTP vendors. These partnerships allow us to work around the clock if necessary, handle small, quick turnaround projects in specialized languages, or ramp up to large volume projects. Each qualified vendor has been trained in the principles of PTIGlobal quality and tested against required DTP skills. Files processed by partner-vendors are closely verified against our checklist before testing and delivery

We work daily with PC and Mac platforms in the following DTP applications:

  • Microsoft Office
  • Quark
  • Adobe: PageMaker, FrameMaker, Acrobat, InDesign
  • and many others.

In addition, our DTP teams have expertise in the following graphic publishing applications:

  • Corel: PaintShop Pro, CorelDraw
  • Adobe: FireWorks, Illustrator, PhotoShop
  • and many others.

We also work extensively preparing single-source help-authoring and content management systems.

Besides the Western languages, we provide excellent quality service on non-Western languages employing complex diacriticals or non-Roman alphabets, including Russian and certain Eastern European languages, all Asian languages, as well as the bi-directional languages, Hebrew and Arabic.

We work together with your technical team to develop a localization-ready product, with appropriate graphics for the locale, page layout that can expand for longer texts, such as German or Russian, or adaptation to A4 page size. Whether the final product is intended for digital or print publication, we work side-by-side with you to deliver the product to your requirements.
