Google has announced the release of their Translator Toolkit, a CAT tool that builds on their existing Google Translate feature. The search engine giant says their new tool will “bring that human touch to machine translation.” Translation memories from the tool will be stored in a global and shared environment, making them available for crowdsourcing. Google and Wikipedia reached an agreement that will allow users to take full Wikipedia entries, machine translate them, and then apply changes as needed. The entry can then be uploaded to the localized Wikipedia site.
See upcoming article on Google’s Translator Toolkit in White Papers section of PTIGlobal’s website.
