Portland, OR, May 10, 2010 – PTIGlobal, a translation and localization provider in Oregon, announced today that the company was awarded ISO 9001:2008 registration from Orion Registrar, Inc. ISO registration ensures that all the company’s processes are documented and adhere to rigorous quality standards. PTIGlobal joins an elite group of localization service providers, only 12% of which have sought and gained this registration. The ISO registration took almost one year to achieve, as all the company processes were examined or created to conform to ISO standards.
Tobias Scherf, Director of Operations at PTIGlobal, functions as the Quality Management Systems Representative for the ISO registration process. “Through the integration of our ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System, we have streamlined our internal quality steps into one cohesive, structured system,” he said. “Quality controls are now an integral part of all our processes, rather than being a final checkpoint for quality measure.”
PTIGlobal’s quality objectives, while following ISO standards, had to be tailored and implemented to specifically address the needs of the translation and localization industry. “The goal is to deliver a high quality process that adheres to ISO standards,” Scherf added. “Since we introduced our Quality Management System, we’ve already seen great improvements in quality and on-time delivery. PTIGlobal currently delivers 100% of its projects on-time, and 32% of those projects were delivered ahead of schedule. We’ve always put a large emphasis on quality, and this improvement will further help us succeed in ultimate customer satisfaction.”
PTIGlobal President, Mollie Peters, introduced the ISO concept to the company and is a strong advocate. “Achieving long-term goals is very satisfying, but feeling the momentum build in our processes as we got absolutely everything nailed down was pretty exciting,” Peters observed. “This means a lot to customers who require ISO registration and it stands to open up a lot of doors to future partnerships for PTIGlobal, especially in the medical sector, where standards are so critical. For customers who don’t require ISO registration—well, they’re getting a big quality bonus.”
